All of creation is a song of praise to God. ~Hildegard von BingenYou are warmly invited to worship this Sunday as we celebrate the gift of music within our church family. The Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir will lead worship in songs of praise and thanksgiving around the creation story from Genesis. Hymns, choral works, and handbell selections are woven throughout the service as we hear much of the first chapter of Genesis delivered as reader’s theatre in place of our normal sermon. This type of narrative delivery turns well-known scripture into theatrical script with a bit of interpretive license, just for fun. The Choir has prepared several uplifting anthems including The Heavens Are Telling from Hayden’s Creation, O Be Joyful by John Rutter, and a beautiful setting of Mothering God, You Gave Me Birth by Tom Trenney. The Handbell Choir will present a colorful arrangement of When Morning Guilds the Skies. Our soloists have prepared a stunning anthem in honor of Pentecost which proclaims the power of Light and Spirit in our lives. And, what special music service would be complete without our organist, Esther Lee sharing her exceptional talents? Esther will play an uplifting setting of How Great Thou Art during the prelude and a thrilling Festive Alleluia for postlude. Regardless if you are with us every week or joining us for your first time, I hope you’ll join us this week as all creation sings a song of praise to God. #rolandparkpresbyterianchurch #specialmusicsunday #comeandsee #anopeninvitation #weloveourchoirs #choir #engagingcuriousfaith ...
