In the opening chapter of John’s Gospel (John 1: 35-46) we read about Jesus calling his first disciples by simply saying, “Come and See.” This open and gracious invitation is repeated, almost like a mantra, often throughout John’s Gospel. The offer to experience the grace of God firsthand through participation is central to John’s idea of what it means to follow Christ.

We chose “Come and See: An Open Invitation” as our theme for our capital campaign, because we want to be clear that it is not our own invitation we are extending, but Christ’s. Christ’s invitation is always bigger than our own. We have reservations, fears, and blind spots. We must always strive to not only widen our welcome but expand our invitation as we seek to follow Christ in our own time and place.

Our objective is to continue the legacy of faith and community impact at Roland Park Presbyterian Church through the “Come and See: An Open Invitation” capital campaign. With your support, we aim to enhance the accessibility, safety, and beauty of our beloved church, ensuring it remains a welcoming space for all who seek solace, fellowship, and spiritual growth. Drawing from the successes of our past endeavors, we embark on this new journey with enthusiasm and determination to create a space that reflects our values of inclusivity, hospitality, and service. We hope to tackle renovations that will provide welcoming entrances for all, revitalize our sanctuary and tower and enhance our audio-visual capabilities.
