Join us as we kick off our 125th anniversary with a joyful evening of art, music, and community. Explore our newly renovated space, experience artwork by Rena Diana, enjoy live music from Shaun McMullen, and connect with neighbors in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Founded in 1901, Roland Park Presbyterian Church has been part of the Baltimore community for 125 years. As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), RPPC is committed to pursuing justice, practicing hospitality, and engaging curious faith.

This anniversary year is both a celebration of our history and an invitation to the future — creating space for connection, reflection, and new beginnings.

Roland Park Presbyterian Church began in 1900 when 21 neighbors gathered in a home to imagine a church for a new community. Just one year later, RPPC was officially incorporated.

Before this building existed, early worship services were held in the Woman’s Club Room in the Roland Park shopping center — for $3 per Sunday, including piano, organ, and lights

The cornerstone of this church building was laid in 1902, and within just 17 months, the first sanctuary was ready for worship.

RPPC’s first organ was water-powered. After Sunday School, children would float tiny sailboats as water flowed out toward Roland Avenue before worship began.

In the early 1900s, people came not only to hear the sermon — but to hear soprano Mabel Garrison sing. She soon left RPPC to perform with the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

What began as a church supper in 1903 eventually became RPPC’s beloved Strawberry Festival, a tradition that brought the community together for generations.
