1. Faith in Unexpected Places
• The centurion, a Roman officer, is praised by Jesus for having great faith. How does this challenge common assumptions about who is “deserving” of God’s favor?
• What does the centurion’s request teach us about humility and trust in God’s power?
• Have you ever been surprised by an act of faith from someone you didn’t expect?
2. Jesus’ Compassion for the Widow
• In the story of the widow, Jesus sees her grief and acts without being asked. What does this reveal about God’s character?
• The widow had lost both her husband and son, leaving her completely vulnerable in society. How does Jesus’ response model care for those on the margins?
• How can we be more attentive to the grief and struggles of others in our own communities?
3. Power, Powerlessness, and God’s Kingdom
• The centurion and the widow represent opposite ends of the power spectrum. Why do you think Luke places their stories side by side?
